I have processed and measured several hundred kinds of parts in my career. In general, there are two categories of CNC-type automatic lathes: plastic and bar work. Bar work entails supplying a long rod (2.5m, for example) of material that is clamped and shaven to fabricate a given part or component.
The parts are small, but I find myself surprised and somewhat moved by the precision and complexity of their shapes. Also, I feel a certain excitement and commitment, as I’m responsible for their degree of precision. There’s a great sense of satisfaction in my work.
